Yvonne Temal Instagram screams adventurous, charitable, a bit of a rebel… And she does it all with a smile on her face! Yvonne, who recently discovered a love of nature, especially hiking, recently turned 30 years old wiser and is busier than ever sharing her experiences and love of the outdoors with others as well as giving back to her community.
Yvonne and friends on Mt Baldy on May 21st for the heroes project, climb for heroes event. As a team they raised a little over 500 dollars for wounded veterans.
Yvonne: The outdoors is my playground and I have met so many amazing people and new friends on the trails. I have also used my love of the outdoors to strengthen already existing relationships. I spend a lot of my time reading, listening to, and having conversations around self love, life, and purpose. I host hikes on my free time through an amazing women only group by the name of Girls Who Hike (LA/OC). I volunteer with the West Side German Shepard Rescue of Los Angeles, I’m part of the Latina Strong Foundation community, and I recently joined in on helping keep our trails and parks clean through organizations like Trash Free Earth, Wisdom Tree LA, Everyone’s Hike, and Make Life Count Co. I’m all about empowerment, inspiring, and motivating others through personal experiences.
Adventurous Chica: Tell us about one of your most memorable adventure and what did you discover about yourself?
Yvonne: Last year, I did my first mud run, and in the beginning of this year I did my second in which I discovered how strong my fear of heights is. When I had to climb over the other side of one of the obstacle walls, I froze. Knowing that all I had in that moment was myself to get over this huge beast, being at the top in stillness, looking over and down, no safety belts, nothing, was terrifying. It took some help and lots of encouragement from my teammates, but I finally made it over. This is one of my most memorable and best adventures, because I got to discover one of my biggest fear and confront it head on!
I will be doing my third mud run this November, in which I plan on conquering that wall on my own. Most importantly, I will get to step up to that wall again to face it confidently because I am stronger than any fear! (You Can Do It!)
Adventurous Chica: Share with us some of your biggest lessons learned while adventuring?
Yvonne: Keep my head up, enjoy the present moment, trust myself, face my fears head on, take the time to breath, and use my experiences, challenges, and road blocks to my advantage. Our experiences are all made to shape us, empower us, encourage us, and strengthen us. Therefore, we should shower them, and ourselves, with gentleness, kindness, and love. I believe that we give what we have, and we receive what we are.
I Adventure Because?
Yvonne: I adventure because, it is therapeutic for me. I adventure to inspire other women to step out of their comfort zones and seek new experiences that will lead them to finding themselves in the most beautiful form of self love. Life has so much to offer and show us. We just have to be open to receiving the love and the light.
