What made us, at Adventurous Chica, want to interview Amanda? That is simple! Her belief that we must get the most out of life and explore what is out there; Her appreciation for the world we live in and her belief that exploring it is so beneficial to opening our minds; Her awareness that traveling isn’t cheap and her commitment to helping people find local attractions or quick weekend getaways that may be better and easier on the wallet. Finally, her unshakable conviction that adventure is good for the soul and helps us become a little less fearful! That is also the Adventurous Chica motto.
AC: What has been your favorite travel experience or adventure thus far?
Amanda: My trip to Bora Bora was pretty incredible. I actually was fighting back tears heading to the airport for my departure back to New York. My most thrilling adventures came from my trip to Belize – that country is FILLED with adventure.
AC: How about your proudest travel or adventure moment?
Amanda: When I successfully helped put a Crocodile back into its natural habitat when working with the ACES. I thought for sure I was going to lose an arm, but thankfully I didn’t and the croc is back home where he belongs. Also, swimming with the manatees in Crystal River, FL was one of my favorite travel adventures.
AC: What has been the biggest thing you’ve learned while traveling?
Amanda: Each time I travel I think to myself: WOW! This world is so enormous and it’s mind blowing how quickly we are able to get from one destination to the next. Flying is so incredible. I’ve also learned that I never want to stop exploring this world.
AC: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
Amanda: I would move to an Island in the Caribbean. Not 100% sure which one I would choose, because I love so many of them. But, I’d love to live on an Island, right on the water, have my own excursion company and travel agency and live the dream!
AC: What advice would you give to someone who wants to be more adventurous or travel more but is just afraid?
Amanda: Life is too short to not live it up while you can. It is normal to be afraid. I get scared by a ton of the things I do, but I don’t let fear ever get in my way. I’ve helped a lot of people travel that were fearful of flying, afraid of leaving home (their comfort zone) or afraid of adventuring around a destination. As Cliché as it sounds you just have to DO IT! (Thanks Nike) .
